About the game

Sixty levels of classic mahjong. Free tiles are highlighted and you match two identical ones. A game ends when the layout is empty.

What most people call mahjong is really mahjong solitaire: a one player game where you take pairs off a pile of tiles. This version keeps the classic look and offers 60 levels. The game highlights the free tiles itself, so you can see straight away what you may take.

Mahjong Classic belongs to the Classic layouts variant in the Mahjong world and joined the catalogue on April 5, 2018. The rules, levels and on-screen language are set by the game’s creator, and a short guide appears on its start screen.

How to play

  1. A tile is free when nothing covers it from above and its left or right side is open.
  2. Click two identical free tiles to remove them.
  3. Each pair you remove uncovers the tiles beneath.
  4. A level is solved when every tile is off the table.

Three tips for mahjong

  • Take tiles from the top of tall stacks and the ends of long rows first.
  • When three or four matching tiles are free, consider which two free up more.
  • Do not take a pair just because you see it, ask what it opens.
