Gomoku: line up exactly five of your stones in a row, horizontally, vertically or diagonally. A simple rule where good defence is half the win.

- Choose the piece or stone you want to move.
- Make your move by the rules of the game.
- Beat the computer or reach the goal first.
Tips for a better game
- Before each move, look at what your opponent threatens next.
- In most board games the centre is the most valuable ground, take it early.
- Do not rush: board games reward a plan two or three moves deep.
